Delroy Wilson
Biography
Delroy Wilson, born on 5 October 1948, was a legendary ska, rock steady and reggae singer.
He released his first single "Emy Lou" in 1961 for Clement "Coxsone" Dodd at the age of 13.
His transition to rock steady in the late 1960s produced many hits including "Conquer Me" and "Riding For A Fall." After leaving Studio One he continued to record into the 1990s.
In 1972, Michael_Manley's Peoples National Party chose "Better Must Come" as their election campaign song. A Bob Andy produced song.
"The Last Thing On My Mind" rose to No. 1 in Jamaica. Delroy was produced by Bunny Lee through the 1970s.
Delroy Wilson died on 6 March 1995 at Kingston's University of the West Indies hospital from complications following a liver ailment.
